We had a large turnout to celebrate
the Wekiva Annual “Holiday Open House”.
The Holiday Open House has
become a well attended party and again the community room
was filled to capacity and some residents gathered out in
the parking lot…..it was fun, the weather was great, the
food was terrific….and lots of door prizes were given away
that were donated by our local business and our vendors.
We also collected four (4)
large boxes of food for the Bags of Hope Kids Club….Thank
you to all who contributed. I would like to say “thank you”
to our vendors who contributed to our party….RLC
Landscaping, Ed Jones, Association Insurance agent,
Association Attorney Robert Taylor, Ed Williams with
TruGreen, Subway, Kim Williams with Allstate Insurance, BB&T
Bank, Apopka Publix and Sweetwater Publix and Terri Misek,
Realtor with Greater Orlando Realty.
It’s
that time of the year when we start preparing for the Wekiva
Annual Membership Meeting.
The yearly meeting will be held
the fourth Thursday of April which is right around the
corner!
This is the year with no
election of directors.
Watch your mail for the
“Meeting” packets around the end of March.
We
recently received reports that there have been several
vehicles in the community that have been vandalized.
The vehicles have been “jacked
up”, the tires and rims removed, transmission removed and
then the vandals puts the vehicle on blocks!
We also had a terrible incident
recently where a young man in our community was beaten by
three other youths.
This occurred near Holderness
Park, and the young man was hospitalized for the injuries.
Also recently, one of our
deputies, while checking Duncan Park, came upon a group of
teens smoking the “funny stuff”.
They were arrested and taken to
the Juvenile Assessment Center.
Wow!
I feel like the bearer of bad
news, but I wanted you all to know and be on the lookout for
unusual happenings in Wekiva!
If something doesn’t look quite
right or you see someone you do not recognize or they look
suspicious…immediately call 911 to report.
Don’t forget….the 2012
Annual Assessment was due on February 1, 2012!
